It’s been a while since I went exploring with a camera in hand just for fun. I am guilty of thinking that home has nothing new or exciting to see, that the places I am so familiar with aren’t worth photographing or aren’t as spectacular as the shots I can get across the world. But this past Sunday I went exploring with Steph and Toshiro (that’s Kyle’s middle name) and was reminded that there is so much beauty just outside our front door. Just a drive away, at a place that can be so familiar yet still stunning every time you see it. The ocean. Manhattan beach. Palos Verdes. Home.
Thankful for the inspiration and a day with two of my favorite people!!!
The photog crew : Steph and Kyle! Or shall I call us all by our Japanese middle names…Keiko, Toshiro and me, Kiyomi!!
We picked up Two Guns coffee and headed to Manhattan Beach. Look at the back of Toshiro’s car…can’t miss it!
P E R F E C T W E A T H E R!
The beach is a blessing, even moreso in the midst of the pandemic we are in. That fresh air, wide open space, ocean breeze…THANK YOU JESUS.
A California Christmas. Manhattan Beach already has Christmas trees lining the whole pier! We haven’t even welcomed Thanksgiving yet!
Ocean sparkle 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Stillness, solitude, peace.
I am very thankful for Toshiro (I like calling him that haha!) and his love for film and photography! It is very cool to share a common passion for it and yet to also learn from one another’s different style and perspectives. I mean, he shoots with a NIKON camera and I am a CANON girl!!! HAHA.
So much fun with this crew!
Steph and I used to explore Tokyo on the weekends together, often with our cameras in hand, capturing city moments and new things. It was so nice to be adventuring around with her again! The scenery might be much different from Japan, but our love for exploring and capturing moments via photography remains the same.
I have been very into shadow shots lately lol!
After cruising around MB, we drove to Palso Verdes to catch the sunset. On our way I snapped this shot which got this crazy lens flare!
Point Vicente Light House up in PV…another spot I would normally have taken for granted but saw with new eyes on this day. What a STUNNING spot! And that is Catalina in the background which was totally visible all day!
How cool is it that God creates each sunset unique to each day? He is truly the master creator!!!!
Steph and Toshiro - Love these two and the passion for photography we get to share together.
Some shots from Toshiro’s perspective… also check out his website where he posts his photo and video work- HERE!
And some shots from Steph’s perspective…also check out her blog where she writes about her time in Japan… HERE!!
(I love the shot she got of Toshiro and I under the pier <333)
