ADIOS AMI(E)GO

I have my sister and brother-in-law to thank for the clever name my going away party..."ADIOS AMI(E)GO" *translation: GOODBYE FRIEND* The idea came about (as you noticed in my other post) that I am bidding farewell to Mexican food, so my sister thought it would be hilarious to throw an ADIOS party for someone moving to Japan (of all places) and use my name as a clever pun. Which has a couple layers of irony to it actually... because not only does Amigo mean friend in Spanish...but Ami means friend in French as well! And my sisters likes to think it's funny that if you space it out correctly ADIOS AMI(E)GO can also be read as... ADIOS, AMIE GO- BYE BYE haha!

On Saturday all of my homies gathered at my sis + bro-in-laws house for one last goodbye. Talk about ALL YOUR FAV PEOPLE IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME. College, Church, High School, uncles, aunties, cousins, neighbors...wait, was this my wedding or something? I was overflowing with gratitude and thankfulness. A few highlights of the night were: the amazing taco man that came and fed us all, FATTYKINE flip book photobooth!, my favorite "food for the Gods" dessert, incredible musical performance of "Great are you, Lord" by our impromptu family band, and a group photo that will most definitely be framed in my new apartment.

Praise God for these people I call family. They have encouraged me beyond belief and to have their support and love as I move to Japan is the greatest gift anyone could ask for. Hallelujah!

You give life, You are love. You bring light to the darkness. You give hope, You restore every heart that is broken. GREAT ARE YOU, LORD. It's Your breath in our lungs so we pour our praise, We pour out our praise to you only. GREAT ARE YOU, LORD. All the earth will shout Your praise. Our hearts will cry these bones will sing. GREAT ARE YOU, LORD!

-All sons and daughters. "Great are you Lord"
