The story behind the name...

CHANIE BON [CHAW. KNEE. BAWN]

In Japanese, Chan (ใกใ‚ƒใ‚“) is a suffix commonly placed after a child's name (usually a female). Growing up the youngest child in a Japanese-American household I was always referred to as Amie-Chan. This soon morphed into a variety of names: Chanie, Bonnie, Chanzie, Bonzie, Chan-Bon, Bon-Bon...and many many more. This blog is a collection of my photos and stories as I live and work in the beautiful nation of Japan.
